This latest album sees me changing things up again. Previous SUMIC albums have been planned out sequences of particular pieces of music, but this time I had no such plans. Over the last year or two I was recording new and older compositions that I wanted to get recorded, and gradually I realised that here was a nice sequence of music that worked as an album.

Coincidentally, (and it's not something I would deliberately attempt I have to say), but if I had ever intended to record a 'shop window' of an album, which covered all of my musical interests, then it might sound something like this. My improvising interests are represented by 'Seascape' and 'Aftermaths', my extended and progressive composing by 'Look Ahead' and my new version of the old English folk song 'Death & The Lady', and my more folk and pastoral compositional interests are represented by the title track, 'Held In Awe' and 'A Village Childhood'.

As said, this is an album to be experienced. The epic title track demands and deserves dedicated time and attention for one to truly comprehend the deep trip it is: a trip whose sonic petals gradually blossom into an expansive, exquisite bloom, complete with spacey, ethereal, Floydian guitar solos and suspenseful, undulating rhythms. It’s evolving soundscape is truly a treat worth savouring. The recording is clear and high quality. All aboard, Major Tom! Highly recommended. 8.5/10. Alrihkh
